What's Your "Financial Personality?"
On the surface, it
appears money management
falls under
the detached, rational side
of ourselves – dealing with
facts, figures, incoming, outgoing, etc.
But according to Jordan E. Goodman,
author of Everyone's Money Book and
former member of the editorial staff of
Money magazine, emotions play a
huge role in the financial decisions we
make – sometimes to the degree our
rational side cannot override our
emotional side to make what we know
in our minds is the correct choice. Our
decisions about finances are impacted
by how we grew up and experiences
we've had as adults with money – both
of which impact us emotionally.
Goodman says each of us can be
classified as an Ostrich, Striver, Debt
Desperado, Squirrel, Coaster, or
High Roller. To learn more about how
your emotions impact your financial
decisions and how to overcome their
influence, read the complete article at www.aarpmagazine.org/money/moneystyle.html.
