IRS Creates Email Address for Phony Emails

The IRS recently announced it has established an electronic mailbox (phishing@irs.gov) to which taxpayers can forward suspicious emails claiming to be from the IRS.

In order to preserve information investigators can use to track the source of the fraudulent email, please follow the instructions posted at www.irs.gov. To access the instructions, enter "phishing" in the search box then open the article entitled "How to Protect Yourself from Suspicious E-Mails." Scroll within the article until you find instructions for submitting bogus emails to the site.
